Noble Friends, Especially Fellow Scots,

Last month it was crowd-funded castles in France. Now a project is afoot to
build a crowd-funded broch in Caithness, Scotland:
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-46757696 .

What is a broch, you ask? It is an iron age tower/fort/house that was
common 2,000 years ago in northern Scotland, though a few appeared further
to the south. The BBC article claims there are 180 known brochs, though
other sources claim there are more than 400. No brochs are intact, though
some are still pretty substantial ruins. The Broch of Mousa in the
Shetlands is the most complete and stands 13 meters high. You can learn
more about brochs at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broch .

Yeah, I know. This is pre-SCA period, but still way cool.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
