Noble Friends,

Today the BBC reports that a hoard of 2,528 silver coins has been uncovered
in the Crew Valley by metal detectorists. The hoard is the largest Norman
coin hoard discovered in England since 1833. Coins from the reigns of both
Harold II and William the Conqueror are found in the hoard, including some
that bear the designs of Harold on one side and William on the other. There
are also mint marks from locations previously unknown to have made coins at
this time.
