Noble Friends, Especially Vikings and Fellow Scots,

A few days ago the BBC offered a story on the Galloway Viking Hoard. This
treasure was found four years ago by a metal detectorist in Dumfriesshire,
Scotland. Over 100 items were recovered, and the find was declared the
finest haul of Viking treasure ever found in Scotland. Here is a re-run of
the original BBC story:

Now all cleaned up and conserved, the Hoard will soon "hit the road" (as
the BBC terms it) for a tour of museums. It will open at the National
Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh from May to November 2020. This will be
followed exhibitions at Kircudbright, Aberdeen and Dundee. After 2022, the
treasure will return to the National Museum for permanent display. To see
photos of several restored pieces, go to

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge 🦆
