Noble Friends,

On this day in 1560, Amy Dudley (née Robsart) was found dead at the foot
of some stairs at Cumor Place near Oxford. Amy was the wife of Robert
Dudley, Queen Elisabeth I's favorite and Master of the Horse. A
coronor's jury ruled the death a possible suicide, and modern historians
have suggested that Amy was suffering from breast cancer. Her death
caused a major court scandal, with rumors suggesting that Robert Dudley
had arranged Amy's death. The story continues to fascinate historians
and fiction writers, as well as providing a major plot device for the
1988 Kate Blanchett film ELIZABETH.

The Wikipedia article is found at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Robsart . A very detailed discussion
with illustrations can also be found at

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge
