Noble Friends, Especially Fellow Scots:

On July 7, 1537 Madeleine of Valois, Queen Consort of Scots, died from
tuberculosis at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh at the age of 16. She was a
daughter of Francois I, King of France. Her tragically brief marriage to
James V, King of Scots, lasted just a bit over six months:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_of_Valois .

Madeleine is commemorated in one of the famous Stirling Heads on the
ceiling of the King's audience chamber:
https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1553/25904144432_70ef26f359_b.jpg . In a
current view of the ceiling, she can be seen at the extreme left in the
second row from the top, with James V to her right, and his second queen
Mary of Guise to his right:

. The painted heads are reproductions, but the original is in the
Stirling Head's gallery elsewhere in the castle.

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge
