Noble Friends,
One of the featured Wikipedia articles for today discusses the famous
Sutton Hoo Helmet. This 7th century Anglo-Saxon helm is thought to have
belonged to King Rædwald of East Anglia. It was found in 1939 at the
famous ship burial along the Anglian coast, and is today one of Great
Britain's most famous and iconic treasures. For the story of the helmet
and its amazingly difficult restorations (twice) see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Hoo_helmet.
A discussion of Sutton Hoo in general with photos of many other
artifacts, try https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Hoo .
You can read more about Rædwald at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rædwald_of_East_Anglia .
Yours Aye,
Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge
