Noble Friends,

Today the BBC reports from the medieval village of Wharram Percy that
numerous skeletons show that the dead were mutilated in various ways to
keep them from rising from their graves. The desecration including
breaking bones, burning and decapitations. Our modern obsession with
zombies is apparently nothing new:

Two other earlier stories of interest from Wharram Percy are linked off
the current piece:

That trepanning was practiced at the village was discovered on a
peasants skull: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3714992.stm

Another skeleton of a pregnant woman and her foetus shows that a
post-mortem ceasarean was attempted:

Wharram Percy is one of the most important medieval excavations in
England. For more on the site, see

Yours Aye,

Mungo Napier, Laird of Mallard Lodge
