Noble Friends,

On this date in 1487, Lambert Simnel was crowned King of England as
Edward VI in Dublin. Simnel bore a resemblance to the feeble-minded Earl
of Warwick, last Yorkist claimant to the English throne who was being
held in the Tower by Henry VII. Simnel was passed off as Warwick, and
was put at the head of a pro-Yorkist army to overthrow Henry Tudor:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambert_Simnel .

The Yorkist forces were crushed by the King's army and Simnel was taken
captive. Recognizing that the boy was a tool, Henry pardoned the boy and
gave him a job in the royal kitchens. This made it easy for Henry to
keep an eye on the lad. He continued to serve the Tudors as a falconer
until his natural death around 1535.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
