***Extraordinary Entertainment Extravaganza*

Greetings unto one and all who plan to attend Kingdom Arts & Sciences
Festival, from Mistress Ceridwen ferch Owain!

Good Gentles, at this year's Kingdom A&S Festival, not only can you see the
most splendid displays of Arts and Sciences in our fair kingdom, not only
can you compete in your chosen artistic field to your heart's content, not
only can you spend the time learning from other artisans all you wanted to
know about THEIR art but never had time to ask, but you can also come
and be entertained in many and diverse ways by a multitude of performers
from around our fair Realm!

There will be a room completely devoted to entertainment, to the practice,
perfection and proliferation of the Performing Arts at KASF! From 10 am -
4 pm there will be performers from a variety of places and in varied art
forms to entertain and amaze our audience. There will be a schedule posted
and audience members may come and go as they wish.

As an example of one of the possibilities for diversion and erudition, for
the devotees of the daring dueling of doggerel and the rhythmic joy of
runes and rhyme and the victory of verse, we have this year's *Duke Gyrth
Memorial Poetic Smackdown*. Come hear the compositions that becry the
inspiration for a poet's pen. Come hear the poems that smack down either a
period archetype/profession or a scadian archetype/profession. If you are
inspired to jump into the poetic fray, please contact Master Dunstan
on the *Poetry
Smackdown page*

*Performing Arts Schedule*

The Performing Arts Program at the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Festival will
be entertaining and educational! Opportunities to perform will be provided
for the performers, and opportunities to see and hear the beauty produced
will be provided for the audience. A demonstration of all the performing
arts in the wide spectrum available in the SCA will be an eye-opening
education for everyone who thinks performing arts is limited to just a bard
guy with guitar. Music, poetry, theater, storytelling and much more will
be as KASF for both performers and audience, so no matter who you are, you
don't want to miss this! If you are a performer and want to sign up for a
slot, please visit http://sudentorre.atlantia.sca.org/ , (go to KA&S, then
click on Extraordinary Entertainment Extravaganza) to sign up. Don’t
delay, and slots are filling up fast..!!

If you do not see a slot open and would like to be on the waiting list
(because things change very quickly right before the event), please contact
Mistress Ceridwen (see website).

*Demo of Atlantia Performing Arts*

A collection of performers from throughout Atlantia is gathered to
demonstrate the wide variety of ways that performing arts are experienced
in the SCA. Much more than just a solo singer with guitar, performers
throughout Atlantia research and recreate an extensive variety of
performing arts from Group Theater to magic illusions. This hour will
showcase the spectrum of performing arts pursued by SCAdians in Atlantia,
including but not limited to, singing, instrumental music in groups or by
soloists, use of period and modern instruments, Shakespeare performances,
other theater performances, storytelling, and much more.

*12:00 - 1:30 PM*

*Oldcastle Poetry Smackdown*

A poetry competition in honor of the legendary Gyrth Oldcastle.

*1:30 - 2:00 PM*

*Putting Commedia dell' Arte Into Context for the SCA*

The members of i Firenzi will present an introduction of the performance
elements that define commedia within the scope of SCA period study,
including stock characters, scenarios, improvisation, masks, costuming,
staging, and culture. By the end of this half hour, audience members will
understand the basic context of how commedia style plays fit into Italian
Renaissance society in period and how they fit into SCA recreation. The
audience will then be prepared to understand and enjoy the following
performance by i Firenzi.
