Noble Friends,

Today marks the 751st anniversary of the Battle of Evesham, the key
conflict which largely ended the Second Barons' War. Simon de Montifort,
6th Earl of Leicester, had essentially seized the government of England
and held Henry III, the King's brother Richard of Cornwall, and Prince
Edward (later Edward I). Edward escaped and raised an army that trapped
de Montifort near Evesham. In the resulting massacre, de Montifort and
his son Henry both died in the fighting and the rebel army was nearly
wiped out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Evesham . Although
this didn't end the war, the remaining actions were largely mopping up.

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
