Unto Your Majesties Dietrich and Thora, King and Queen of Atlantia, and
unto the good Populace of this fine Kingdom does Cian Triton, Principal
Herald of Atlantia, send greetings this fine April day.

As the Society rapidly approaches its 50th anniversary, I wish to report
on Royal Court happenings that occurred at the Tournament of the Dragon
on April 24, 2016. This was a simple event, run by a small canton
located in the largest geographical Barony in the Kingdom, and there
were 174 people in attendance! It was an amazing turnout, and fun was
had by all throughout the day.

In the early evening, His Majesty, the mighty King Dietrich, processed
into court wielding a mighty axe and accompanied by mighty Valkyries.
Upon reaching His throne, the King looked upon his populace, and bade
them to be seated. His Majesty welcomed everyone, and asked if they had
fun, to which the response was an overwhelming “Yes”. The weather had
been perfect, and the fighting had been intense, and all who were
present enjoyed themselves.

His Majesty had his Southern Royal Bard, Lord Gideon ap Stephen, come
forth, and they both began to sing a song that had been commissioned by
Her Majesty Queen Thora. It was a unique and very uplifting way to begin
a court.

The children present were encouraged to attend His Majesty up front, who
spoke to them of their activities during the day. The King did speak in
particular to one young man, 15 years old, who had journeyed from
Hawkwood to attend the event. This young man had created several mighty
weapons, by his own hand. His Majesty was carrying the axe that this
young man created, and Baron Lucien of Nottinghill Coill was bearing the
giant hammer. As a token of his appreciation of this young mans works,
the King removed his own armband and presented it to him. His Majesty
then summoned a loyal Atlantian to take the Toy Chest off and allow the
children to chase him down and pilfer the toys. I am not sure that
anything remained of the sacrificial lamb who carried the toy chest, as
he has not been heard from since.

His Majesty had someone called into court, who turned out to not be
present. His Majesty intoned ominously that He will take of this person
at a later date. If you were not present at this event, you may wish to
tread carefully!

Lady Iollann of Glencairn was commanded to come before the King to await
His justice, and pray for His mercy. A very stunned Lady Iollann came
forth from behind the Baronial thrones to prostrate herself and grovel
before His Majesty. The King spoke of the work that she has been doing
with knitting and teaching knitting classes, as well as her work with
the scribal arts, and He was pleased to induct her into the Order of the
Coral Branch.

But His Majesty was not done, for Lady Iollann has been actively serving
her Barony and her Kingdom. She has served as seneschal, chirurgeon,
herald, she teaches, and word of her activities have reached Their
Majesties’ ears, and Lady Iollann was inducted into the Order of the
Opal. His Majesty was unable to find an Opal medallion for Lady Iollann,
and asked the Triton Herald what could be done. Cian Triton proceeded to
remove his own Opal medallion, and gave it to Lady Iollann, for it is
Lady Iollann who has been Cian’s inspiration and support in all things
he has done, and he was honored to pass his medallion on to her.
Incidentally, according to the scroll, one of the things that Lady
Iollann was being recognized for was for “putting up with certain
heralds who shall not be named”. Triton attempted to look innocent as he
read that, but nobody was fooled.

The newcomers were invited into court, and His Majesty was pleasantly
surprised at how many of them there were. He greeted each of them and
spoke with them to make sure they enjoyed the day. There were two young
men who were attending their first event, and they were spotted
throughout the day helping people set up day shades, and spent most of
the day assisting Dame Morwenna as waterbearers. His Majesty was most
impressed with this, and in addition to the newcomers tokens He gave
out, King Dietrich also presented the two men each with a dragon’s claw
necklace from around His own neck. Loud cheers for the newcomers echoed
across the lands.

Lady Marie Helene of the New Forest was summoned into court, escorted by
her husband, Lord Wilhelm Leopard der Schwartze. His Majesty recognized
Lady Marie Helene for her cooking ability, and how she so often shares
her noms with others, and He was pleased to award her the Fountain.

As Lady Marie-Helene and Lord Wilhelm returned to their seats, His
Majesty informed Lord Wilhelm that the King had not dismissed him. Lord
Wilhelm came forth to find out his fate, and he listened as King
Dietrich spoke of the service that Lord Wilhelm has done for so many
years, marshalling, fighting, training fighters, and outfitting
fighters, and His Majesty was moved to give a Grant of Arms to Lord Wilhelm.

His Majesty had Lady Birna Isleifsdottir brought before Him, and He
spoke glowing praise of her artistry and work with wood and leather, and
He wished to recognize her with the Award of the Silver Nautilus.

Lord Dreux d’Anjou was brought forth into court to show off the knitted
bag that he created during Gulf Wars. Lord Dreux only had a few days to
take raw wool and turn it into the bag, which he did quite successfully.
His Majesty was suitably impressed at this feat, and awarded Lord Dreux
the Silver Nautilus.

The King bade His herald to summon Lady Veronica Pasamonte into court,
to also face His justice. It seems that Lady Veronica has been doing
some good works of service within her home barony of Hawkwood, and word
of her deeds had reached His ear. In recognition of this, King Dietrich
awarded her the Opal so all may know of how well she has served the Kingdom.

The Autocrat, Baron Takeda, was summoned forth to speak of the event and
hand out prizes. Many amazing warriors were recognized for their skills
on the field, and His Majesty was pleased at all He had seen.

Their Excellencies of Nottinghill Coill were then invited to open Their
own Baronial Court, which will be reported on separately by the Baronial
herald.

Following the conclusion of Baronial Court, His Majesty declared that he
had nothing further, and commanded that his court be closed so that all
could retire to the main hall and feast!

This concludes my court report for the Royal Court at Tourney of the
Dragon. This is accurate to the best of my recollection, and any
mistakes are entirely mine.
