On this day in 1487, the Battle of Stoke Field was fought between 
Yorkist and Lancastrian forces. The Yorkists were following Lambert 
Simnel, a puppet who was put forth as "Edward VI". The battle was a 
decisive victory for Henry VI's Lancastrian army, and is generally 
considered the last battle of the War of the Roses:

Simnel was pardoned by Henry and given a job in the royal kitchens.
