Noble Friends,

Today Wikipedia's featured article discusses Hermenutic-style Latin.
This was a form of Latin was infused with what the article describes as
"arcane" words, many derived from Greek. It was the favored style of
writing in Anglo-Saxon England and was widely used by Benedictines. One
of the greatest writers in Hermeneutic Latin was St. Aldhelm, Abbot of
Malmsbury, Bishop of Sherbourn, and the first known Anglo-Saxon
librarian (as a librarian I have a soft spot for Aldhelm, and have
visited his holy well in Doulting, England).

So this is pretty heady stuff, but maybe some of you would find reading
the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermeneutic_style

Yours Aye,

Lord Mungo Napier, That Crazy Scot
