Greetings unto the lists! -PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS TO YOUR LOCAL LISTS!
First, the theme is the Peasant Revolt in Flanders 1323–1328. This means
that everything is peasants versus nobles! Be prepared to choose your side.
Next, on Friday night there is a torchlight tournament which will also have
drumming and beer! Bring beer. Beer is good for you (21+). At the same
time, the nobles will be having a very fancy wine tasting to the tunes of a
hammered dulcimer . Bring wine. Wine is good for you (21+).
On Saturday, the MoL table opens at 9 am and archery/thrown weapons starts
at 9:30. It is suggested that fighters (and archers) wanting to enter the
Fighter Fashion Show (tm) (Sexy and You Know It) prepare, because that
starts at 10 (right before the fighting begins for heavy and rapier at 11).
For those not participating in the fighting, archery and other items, there
are lawn games that will be played at 11 (period games!) and A&S classes
(which start at noon).
Speaking of A&S, you can enter ANYTHING into our competitions this year! As
long as you can classify it as "courtly" or "domestic", you're in a
category! Documentation is requested, but not required and there will also
be a populace vote! Even if you aren't entered, please come by and see what
the artisans have brought out in favor of their chosen side! Her
Excellency, Sacred Stone, has also requested Largesse (any type will be
accepted, but the theme of the competition is black & white OR blue, white
& gold).
We have many children & youth activities as well for both the youth and
their parents! Our (then) Queen, Ysabella, has made time in her schedule to
meet and greet all the youth of the event. We look forward to seeing you at
the Youth Court Etiquette & Serving Class (taught by Duchess Brianna) and
the Queen's Tea Party at 3 pm.
If you are on board for feast, that starts at 6 PM. Seating is provided;
you only need to bring yourself and your feast gear.
Saturday night will end with a bardic circle going on outside the castle
and inside the castle, the Order of the Phoenix Eye is hosting the first
"Art Moot". In the Art Moot, you will have an opportunity to tell people
about the arts that you love (with a 5 minute time frame) and then answer
questions. This can be any scholarly or artistic topic, and we look forward
to hearing why you love the things you love! There is no documentation
requirement or judging. This is really a "geek out" session set up like a
bardic only more centered on hearing what you know rather than how you
perform it.
There's a lot going on for all age ranges and interests! Hope to see you
there!!!!
