For those who are planning to attend, or who have yet to decide, here is the
breakdown and rules for armored combat at Drums of War:
Fighter Fashion Show
To begin with, there will be a Fighter Fashion show which will take place
prior to the Heavy Tournament. Each fight participating in the fashion show
will receive (1) point. The fighter who wins the fashion show will receive
an additional (2) points. These points will carry over into the Heavy
Tournament.
Heavy Round Robin Tournament
. When each fighter signs in at MoL, they will be given an arm
band (either red or blue), which will designate which team they are on
(English or French).
. Brackets will be made as is usual for a round robin
tournament. The number of lists will be determined by the number of fighters
on hand.
o Each list would be comprised of an equal number of fighters
from the red side and from the blue side.
o Each fight will consist of a pairing between red and a blue
fighters. Pairings will continue in this way until each fighter has fought
every other fighter on the opposing team.
. Each fight will be worth 10 points
o 7 points for the winner, 3 points for the loser
o Double kills will be fought again.
. The number of rounds will be determined by the number of
fighters present and the amount of time available.
o The fighter with the most accumulated points (points from the
fighter fashion show + points earned from the round robin tourney) will be
the individual winner.
o The side with the highest cumulative total of points from all
of its fighters will be the winning side and will gain an advantage(s) in
the woods battle.
Heavy Woods Battle
. The winning side from the Heavy Tournament will gain the
following advantages: They will be able to choose which flag they will
defend and they will receive 1 bonus point added to their total for the
woods battle.
. Each team will have a base which will serve as their
resurrection point and will have a no combat safety zone surrounding it.
Fighters will resurrect by entering their base, 'tagging up', making a unit
with at least two other fighters (forming a three man unit) and then
re-entering the battle.
. Each team will also have a defensive position containing their
flag. Each team's flag will be counted as one point for the opposing force
if captured. A flag will count as captured as soon as it is no longer
contested. For the purposes of this scenario contested shall be defined as
being within the reach of the longest melee weapon on the field. When a flag
is captured, the scenario will reset as quickly as is possible and will be
started again. We will run through the scenario as many times as is possible
in the allotted time.
Also, His Highness has expressed his desire to have a melee practice in
preparation from Pennsic. This will likely take place prior to the Woods
Battle. Specifics will be announced the day of the event.
