[MR] How to Make a Peer?

Well, let me take a stab at this...
The 'Long, Involved and Complicated...' comment that Syr Richard mentions
comes from the fact that the decision to elevate someone no longer comes the
day that they are elevated.
I assume that most folks know that it is a long process to get to the
decision, but once it is made, and King and Queen have decided to elevate
someone, arrangements must be made to insure that the elevation is something
special. A date is decided upon far enough in advance to insure that friends
and family can attend. Arrangements need to be made to have:
The facilities for the actual vigil location, tents, chairs benches,
etc need to be
	A day-board prepared
The four worthies need to be tapped and given time to prepare what
they will say
The regalia needs to be made/gathered
There in no event-fairy that will waive their magic wand to make this all
appear. It will be from the work of their peer, household members and
family. We want the elevation to a peerage to be special, for most it is the
highest honor that the Society will give them.

I hope that this helps,

Otto

Greeting to all!

Syr Richard de Montbrai recently commented on the fact that the recent
knightings were not 'spur of the moment' decisions, but were many months in
the planning.  I must admit to an embarrassing lack of knowledge about the
process in making a Knight, Laurel or Pelican - other than, 'Long, Involved
and Complicated...'  Would anyone care to offer a more detailed description
of the process?
