Post-Pennsic Costume Classes!
This August, September and October, Lady Beatriz Aluares (http://www.spanishseamstress.org/) will be teaching a series of classes on Hispano-Flemish costume for women. All classes will be taught at the home of Lady Amie Sparrow, 7 Oakdale Court, Sterling, VA 20165. Please RSVP to amiesparrow at yahoo dot com indicating the class that you want to attend. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Please provide any dietary concerns in your RSVP.
The classes are as follows:
August 25 - An Overview of Hispano-Flemish Costume. 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Lady Beatriz will discuss her research and historic sources for this style of garment. An overhead presentation is planned. She will help you plan a project with tips on patterning and materials. Between this class and the next, you can start your Hispano-Flemish dress.
September 22 - Fittings and Analysis. 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Bring your dress project to class and get Lady Beatriz's help with fitting and any other questions that you might have.
October 27 - Hispano-Flemish Accessories. 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Lady Beatriz will talk about the accessories (headgear, outerwear, jewelry) that you can make to complete your Hispano-Flemish look.
