Greetings this day unto the populace of this the Kingdom of Atlantia and especially unto my fellow Lochmeri.

By special request to which I most gladly concede, I, Sigrid
Briansdotter, Companion of the Order of the Laurel and the Order of the
Eagle's Feather, do hereby humbly request your company and participation
in a friendly competition to be held at Midwinter's Revel in our
beloved Barony of Lochmere on the 21st day of January Anno Societatas
XLVI.

In honor of our children, and
those that are children at heart, the competition I wish to sponsor will
have a theme of Medieval Toys.

Please
bring a toy, or many, made by your own hand and tell me, in writing so I
may remember, what is this toy and where and when this toy would have
been used. I would also appreciate it if you would tell me what you know
about how it would have been made
 and how you
made it (and if there are differences, why). Perhaps you would also be
so kind as to include a picture or illumination that inspired you, so
that I too may be inspired.

 For this
inspiration and your kind indulgence I will provide a small token of my
gratitude. As I would see the skill and creativity of our youth, they
are most heartily encouraged to enter and based on their skill and age
there will be two prizes to be won. In addition, for the toy which most
inspires me that day I will provide a gift. For the information which
most inspires me that day I will also supply a special gift.

Awaiting your gifts of inspiration,
Magistra Sigrid Briansdotter written this day on my lands in the country, a small remote enclave of the Barony of Lochmere.

Guidelines:

Theme: Medieval Toys

Requirements: Made by the entrant

Documentation: Required (children 10 years and younger may tell me what they know if they do not wish to write it down)
This can be as simple as a picture and a short note that answers the following questions or it can, of course, be more thorough.
What is it?
Where was the toy, or the painting/illumination/etc that inspired it, located?
When?
What do you know about how they would have made it: materials, techniques, colors, etc.?
How did you make it? If it differs from what you know of how they made it, why?
Where did you get your information?

Judging: Based on the standard Atlantian forms.
A Quick Explanation of the judging categories and codes can be found here: http://moas.atlantia.sca.org/jd_codes.htm

Prizes: A small token will be provided to each entrant as thanks for their inspiration and indulgence of my whim.
Prizes will be awarded for the following 5 categories:
Highest Score
Best Documentation
Highest Score Youth (17 and under)
Highest Score Young Youth
Sponsor's Discretion

If there are any questions regarding this sponsored competition, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to work with you beforehand on ideas, process, and documentation.
