Unto Your Excellencies Geldamar and Etain, the Triton Principal Herald,
the Atlantian College of Heralds, the populace of Atlantia and all who
read this missive:
Greetings from Lord Cian mac Cellacháin hUí Dubhlaich, Gordian Knot
Pursuivant herald, and herald of record for the Baronial Court from the
Southern War Practice in September, AS 46.
At the event of Southern War Practice, held in the Barony of Nottinghill
Coill on September 17, 2011, also known as Anno Societatis 46, Their
Excellencies Geldamar and Etain, Baron and Baroness of Nottinghill
Coill, did open a Baronial court.
Their Excellencies welcomed the populace warmly, inquiring if they had a
good time, and commenting on how much They enjoyed seeing Their warriors
and commanders working together in preparation for the upcoming War.
They expressed confidence that Nottinghill Coill would put in a good
showing and be an asset to her allies next month.
Their Excellencies then had Lord Draco of Brockore Abbey summoned before
Them, where They commented on his service to the Barony in all aspects,
and thus They were pleased to award him with the Award of the Golden Cord.
The newcomers were called forth, there being only 1 newcomer still at
the event. Baron Geldamar expressed His pleasure at the fact that the
newcomer, attending his first event, arrived with full fighting gear and
fought heavy weapons. Their Excellencies thanked the gentle and hoped
to see him at many future events.
The children of the Barony were invited to come forward and enjoy an
item from the Baronial Toy Chest.
Lady Rohesia Arwen of Thessalonika was called forth into court. Their
Excellencies commented highly on her dedication and enthusiasm to the
Arts and Sciences, and were moved to induct her into the Order of the
Coill’s Muse. Lady Rohesia then asked permission to address the
populace, and proceeded to announce that at War of the Wings in the
Nottinghill Coill encampment Sunday at 10am, there is going to be a
Kingdom Scribes “Meet’n’greet”, and she encouraged anyone who is a
scribe, thinking about becoming a scribe, or just plain curious about
scribes to come by and visit.
The autocrat of the event, Lady Ariel Benne Douw, was called forth from
her place as Baronial Rapier Champion, to address the populace and thank
everyone in attendance. In turn, Lady Ariel was thanked not only for
coordinating the event, but also for her excellent work in arranging for
nice weather.
Baron Lucien de la Rochelle was summoned before Their Excellencies.
Upon seeing the worried look upon his face, Baron Geldamar reminded him
that he had asked for time during court to address the populace. A
relieved Baron Lucien then spoke of the Corsairium, and formally pledged
the support of the Corsairium to stand with Nottinghill Coill during the
forthcoming War of the Wings. Their Excellencies gratefully accepted
the Corsairium’s pledge.
Baron Lucien then stepped to one side, and, with Their Excellencies
permission, proceeded to call forth Lord Cian mac Cellacháin hUí
Dubhlaich from his place behind the Baronial thrones. A very surprised
Baronial Herald stepped before Their Excellencies, who spoke of his
service to Them, the Barony, and to the archery community, and was then
presented with the Award of the Golden Cord.
Their Excellencies once again addressed the populace, informing them of
the fact that Nottinghill Coill has been asked to be one of the primary
warring Baronies (the other being Caer Mear) at next years War of the
Wings. Before They committed the barony to that course of action, They
wished to present it to the populace for their opinion. The populace
seemed quite enthusiastic about another “War of Northern Aggression”.
Her Excellency Hidden Mountain, Baroness Adendra, in full “Southern
Belle” mode with fan a-waving, felt certain that Hidden Mountain would
stand with their Southern Cousins in a time of war.
Their Excellencies also reminded the populace of the upcoming Yule Toy
Tourney in December, and pointed out that the feast would be a matchup
of Nottinghill Coill’s Iron Chef vs. Hidden Mountain’s Iron Chef, who
was chosen the previous weekend. Baron Geldamar pointed out that no
matter which Iron Chef won the challenge, the true winners would be
everyone who sat at feast that night!
There being no further business, Their Excellencies did close Their
Baronial Court.
This account is accurate to the best of my knowledge and complete to the
extent of the information available to me.
Set down and submitted by my hand, I remain, faithful in service to
Crown and Kingdom, Lord Cian mac Cellacháin hUí Dublaich, Gordian Knot
Pursuivant
herald.
