Someone did the same thing Saturday morning in the ditch beside the fighting field. The top of the coals cooled making the pile look like a pile of 'cool ashes.'(as coals do) However, my 3 year old son stepped in the pile and completely melted the bottom of his shoes, (think god he wasn't barefooted, like many kids I saw.)
Please people, when dumping coals, THINK!

Subject: [MR] End of Event Protip: Disposal of burning ash
When you are wrapping up from an event, and you have the still smoking
remains of your charcoal stove to dispose of, please do not throw those
still burning embers into the bushes, and especially don't throw them into
the bushes next to my truck. Until I was able to determine that the
smoke was not coming from my truck, I was really worried that my truck was
on fire.
I advise listening to Smokey the Bear on this
subject<http://youtu.be/UJUz_flx1F0>.
I would like to thank Duke Logan for giving me two gallons of his drinking
water to put the embers out.
