Class Descriptions:

Retainer 101:

Learn the ins and outs of
retaining for Royals and Baronage. Serving others is an honor. It
can also be fun. A great way to meet new people and see the SCA from
a different perspective.

Period Button Making:

 Learn how to make period
buttons with just linen scraps, a needle, thread, and your own hands.

Bardic Circle:
 Come and share the Bardic
Arts when the sun is out, gestures can be seen and everyone is bright
and awake.

Beer Evaluation:

Learn how to understand and
love your beer for all the right reasons. A must for future beer
judges. Class for those 21 and over. If your hair isn't gray
bring an ID.

And Who Are We Today:
Tired not knowing whether
you are a Viking or a Saxon?   Do the people in your
household make fun of you because of your lack of identity?  Are
you suffering from persona phobias?   Come join us in a
discussion of building your basic persona.  We will be talking
about the three basic components of a
persona and, if time permits, workshop some basic persona ideas. This
class is designed for those who want the basic building blocks on
persona building, but anyone, from the “I have a few ideas and want
to talk about them” to the fully fleshed out persona are welcome to
share their ideas.

Glass Etching:
  Learn about the history
and techniques of etching glass.	Beauty that is period and
functional.

Feeding the Populace at Your Event:
Learn how
to fit the food to the event, figure budgeting, and pick a menu that
will make the best use of event facilities while keeping you
low-stress.
Photography in the SCA:
For some of us, our camera
is much as part of the SCA experience as a fighter’s helm or a
brewer’s tankard.  Cameras of all types are one of those
mundane objects most people in the SCA over look, but at times can be
an annoyance.  Come and discus with us the place of cameras in
these modern middle ages.  This class will be split into two
parts, the first half being lecture and discussion.  The second
part will be wondering around the war, taking pictures, so bring your
camera, gear and walking shoes.  This class is open to all
levels of photographers and any type of camera that you like to use
from a DSLR to the little camera on your cell
phone.

Kumihimo:

Come learn how to make a
cord in the fashion of the Japanese. A time honored narrow ware
tradition that is easy and fun to learn.

Block Printing 101:
A hands on class that will
teach you the ins and outs of block printing. Come and make a print
all your own.

Beginning Embroidery:
  Come learn period stitches
from a patient instructor. You can make a sample of period
needlework.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Sapphire.
