I have a terrible time remembering, but many years ago, I read, what I think,
might have been a book on Turkish textiles , though it well could have been
Indian, about the evolution of a traditional pattern called palm leaf or the
bouquet. For the life of me it is so vaugue but i remember several drawings
with it that sort of hd giant leaf and a bouquet and like an Escher pianting ,
several manifestations later it was a paisley shape. Has anyone else ever seen
this and could lead me back to it?

I should also add, I'm not saying don't use paisley...my suggestion
would be to search for designs that reflect the textiles of the period
you are trying to reproduce rather than using an obviously modern
paisley because "paisleys are period", grin. A period paisley motif is
not always the same as those produced by modern designers. But if you
find something that is similar to a period fabric, jump on it (and buy
extra for me, hahahah)
