I think the confusion comes from the use of the word "paisley" - if we were
to think "Asiatic flower/leaf motif", it would be simple. 

If we were to follow that up with "Paisley is a Scottish town where in the
17th century the weavers began to produce beautiful fabrics borrowing the
leaf-patterns of the imported Asiatic flower motifs, which they then
modified to create scattered-leaf designs well-loved through later
centuries", then I think we'd have it covered.
