Greetings Ludwig,

Take a look at these files in the STRUCTURES section of the
Florilegium. This will give you some ideas and suggestions about this
that other people have suggested in the past. Be aware that the
formulation of Thompson's Waterseal has apparently changed and
recently people have been recommending to not use it.
tent-care-msg (29K) 8/26/10 Care of tents. waterproofing, washing.

I would try pressure washing first. That will often take care of light
mold. But the first file above will go into more detail. If you can
avoid using detergents on the tent that is best. Once you start
needing to use detergents, you will most likely have to re-apply water
treatment.

With Pennsic and other summer camping coming up I have some care a
treatment of canvas questions.? I have a wall tent with some mold
(tiny black dots, not too numerous) and a need of new waterproofing.
I also have a wedge tent also in need of retreatment, but thankfully
with out any mold. ? Both were originally treated for waterproofing,
fire-resistence, and mold-resistence.? I'm guessing all three could
stand to be re-applied.

My real question is what products do people suggest using, and from
where?? Also is pressure washing the wall tent and letting it dry in
the sun likely to be sufficient for the removal of mold?
