[MR] Awards, et al...(was SCA census...)

Greetings to all gentles and good folk of our fair kingdom,
 
I must concur with the lady who commented that to get an award others have to RECOMMEND you!  How many of us have seen Their Majesties post to this very group seeking recommendations for Their poulace, what a sad state we are in when They have to actively ask us to suggest worthies to them - They should be BOMBARDED with suggestions of the many fine gentles deserving of recognition for their ongoing and unstinting efforts to allow the rest of us to enjoy our life in Atlantia and the SCA .
 
So, how do you make a recommendation?  A good recommendation will be two-fold in nature; First, research the person in the Order of Precedence at the kingdom's website (at the top, right of the homepage) - there's no point in recommending them for an Opal/Shark's Tooth/etc. if they already have one.  Secondly, and with great care and thought, write your recommendation in the Online Award Reommendation System - also on the kingdom's homepage (scroll down to the bottom.)  Point out specific examples of their actions that you feel makes them worthy of the award you are recommending them for (and while writing that, you might come to understand why it's so hard to earn a Laurel/Pelican/White Belt)
 
And, finally, how do YOU get these awards?  Earn them. Be so wonderful and excellent at what you do within our kingdom that you inspire others to write a recommendation for you.  
 
And remember, when you receive an award, recognize it is for what it is, a duty and honor to be included among a chosen few; those who work for the betterment of themselves, be it through service, A&S or martial prowess, and for the betterment of our kingdom and Society as a whole.
 
I hope everyone has fun at Pennsic, I challenge you to look for those folks who deserve you recognition, and then give it to them!
