Greetings Friends,
I must apologize up front for being so long in getting this out to
everyone.  Here follows the menu for the feast at Dun Carraig's A Day in the
Middle East.  Those dishes with stars (*) are vegetarian.  Any with double
stars (**) are vegan.

As is traditional at this event, the feast will be served as one course with
all of the dishes coming out pretty much at the same time. The general theme
this year is Dining along the Silk Road.

Ujja Bayda (Egg & Nut Omelet) (10th c. Arabic)

Shrimp Sambusa (Shrimp-stuffed pastry) (10th c. Arabic)


Bal-po Soup (Soup for the Qan) (Lamb and chickpea stew) served with Basmati
Rice

Sibugh (Chicken with Pomegranate Sauce) (10th c. Arabic)



Isfanakh Mutajjan (Soup for the Qan, one of the "Muslim" recipes)(Spinach
sauted with sesame seeds)

Jazar Mahshi (Cold Dish of Dressed Carrots)(10th c. Arabic)

Nabatean khali wa zayt (Cucumber relish with bread). (Nabatean, time frame
unknown...but prior to the Islamic culture in Arabia)


Luqmin (steamed bread) (Soup for the Qan) (Mongol, 14th c.)



Khushkananaj Wathiqi (Sugar cookies) (10th c. Arabic)

Judhaba of Bananas (10th c,Arabic)

Subhani (Apricots stuffed with marzipan)(North Indian)



Cherry and other Sharbats

Lemon-Ginger drink


We will have Turkish coffee available for those interested.


Baron Khadir is preparing the Mezze and has planned a number of really
wonderful dishes.
