My article did contain a statement about common-sense exceptions.  A craftsman, artisan, or artist actively engaged in the pursuit of their work would, in my opinion, be just such a case for which that statement was intended.

 do in all cases agree with the requirements for Courtesy. But what, may I ask, 
s the proper behavior for a merchant when Royalty, or former Royalty, enters 
he booth?  In many cases a merchant artisan is working upon something and 
ising is...complicated. In others, the merchant may be unfamiliar with the 
articular Royal insignia.

 think especially of many of the situations at the Pennsic Wars. Such as 
idnight Madness where Royalty may be in and out of the merchant enrions.
