[MR] flushing a toilet when the power/water's out

A regular flush toilet can be flushed even if there is no water in the tank, if you have a bucket of non-drinkable water handy. Rain water, pond water, whatever. All you have to do is keep a bucket of it handy, and then when you want to flush, just pour the bucket into the bowl. It will fill up enough that you will get nervous about it, then all the water will release and the toilet will flush. It won't fill back up, but it doesn't matter. Just fill the bucket again from whatever source you have.
Granted this doesn't work if you dont' have access to water at all, but it's handy if you have a rain barrel or a creek or a retention pond nearby.
