This was originally a group with the idea that nobility of spirit was going to be enough.......it evovled from the "rialto". I was on that long befor i joined the SCA. AT the time I was intrigued but shy about trying to join a group that seemed at best eurocentric and at worst down right racst. Yup that is right, racist. 25 Years ago there was a really nast thread about "blue eyed samuri" that  went from " theybdont belong in the SCA cause we are doing EUROPE" to " why would nyone want to do a culture they aren,t, especially ehrn you can,t even look the part?"   teah really... I lurked on those threads for 2 years befor someone actually invited me to a small SCA event in what became the barony of Bight Hills . I was sure i would be laughed at for not being "plausable,.  I came away with a huge sign burned into the inside of my head....."CHIVALRY IS NOT DEAD"  !      In the last few years or so, I occassionally see signs of viral illness for chivalry, in the Society as a whole and sometime in individuals. I have also seen the patient recover , having learned something while ill.                      I Have raised me dughter in it from a tiddler. Scoutimg did no offer what the society di in opportunities to learn and grow. I have had maney hicupps in my life and the society, as a community, have helped me beyond all measure, even when biological family was less than helpful or should i say especially?   I am  no one important in the scheme of things. I have no peerage, can obviously not write well and those who had anything to learn from me have long since passed me to become stunning examples of  things it is possible to learn and do in the Dream. i will not give up on this concepr of  all the guest at the Merry Rose being  here for noble minds to discuss heartfelt noble topics. I will believe that most of us want to atleast fight fair. And that differences of opinion are still focused on the same goal which is to make things better. Even people who have been removed from the list for not being so noble, who still manage to lurk who collect emails to privately send nastygrams , can have opinions. They can also be blocked from personal email and even reported as spam .for everyone of those though, ther are 12 x the wonderful noble hearted members of this list who getvery passionate but can also learn through their ability to be compassionate.    I Know i isnt much, but im not giving up on this just yet after so many years.
