St. Brigid's Thread Needle Faire in the Barony of Tir-y-Don offers a
wide variety of Arts and Sciences Competitions for all. Please take a
look at the rules of our competitions, I think you will be pleasantly
surprised. We will even provide documentation for you in one area.

Silver Needle
1.Please pre-register your team. Only 2 first-come stitching slots will
be available at the door.
2.A maximum of 6 stitchers per team. If your model does not work on the
project they do not need to count as a team member. Only one costuming
Laurel per team.
3.Only 4 electrical devices may be plugged in at the same time, per
team. Any electrical devices of unusual size need to be vetted by the
Autocrat before set-up. (Example a steam press...) Please bring
appropriate cords and power strips.
4.No fire in the building!
5.Appropriate undergarments may be already constructed.
6.Patterns are allowed. Pieces may be cut in advance.
7.Applied trims may be prepared beforehand.
8.Extra points are available for making accessories at the site,
otherwise they may be prepared in advance.
9.Sewing may be by hand or machine.
10.Competition runs between 9am-4pm. Judging will be at 4pm. Each team
must provide a single judge. Each judge will judge each team. Each team
will then model their garment at the start of court.

Tools of the Trade
1.Prove that St. Brigid was the patron saint for your art. A simple
quote with a date will be more than adequate.
2.Make an appropriate tool.
3.Display the tool with simple documentation. (We like lots of pictures.)
4.Win great fame.

Lickty Split Competition
1.We will provide an image. You provide the materials and tools of your
choice. Pick an image and prove your creativity.
2.You have 2 hours to complete your embroidered piece, using any period
stitch or combination of stitches. For Example: Elizabethan Slip work,
Elizabethan Blackwork, Elizabethan Crewel Work, German White Work,
German Story Cloth, Italian Cut Work, Trapunto, and Bayeux Tapestry
Stitch. (If you cannot find your favorite stitch please contact Baroness
Kaleeb.)
3.Image may be drawn on fabric before the competition.
4.We will provide a short page of documentation.
5.Scale the design to your piece.

Recipes from the Dairy
1.Make a recipe using milk, cheese or an egg.
2.Provide the recipe with a short page of documentation and spoons.
3.Taste great fame.

Clothing Accessories
1.Show us your accessories.
2.Tell us why they are accessories with a short page of documentation.
(We really like pictures.)
3.Win great fame, far and wide.

Woven Goods
1.Weave something.
2.Provide a short page of documentation. (Remember we like pictures.)
3.Win fame and probably not much fortune.

As always I am more than happy to answer questions.
In Service to the Dream,
Baroness Kaleeb the Green Eyed
