As the current Clerk Signet I can tell you that I do not always have
the name of the scribe. This is especially so if I am using a scroll
blank that is not marked. Please sign your scrolls in pencil behind the
illumination on the back of the scroll. If you are willing, add an
e-mail address. Many recipients like to say thank you to the scribe.
In addition to a printed text for the heralds I would like to suggest
"frameable" sizes for the scrolls. It is not always feasible for people
to get their scroll custom framed. If the scroll is a standard frame
size (8X10, 10X13, 11X14, 5X7 etc) then the recipient may have an easier
time displaying your beautiful work. 9X12 can be matted to a 10X13 or
11X14 so it works as well. These sizes will also help those of us who
transport your scrolls (heralds included) because many court portfolios
often don't hold sizes like 11X17 or larger without risking damage to
the edges of the scrolls.
Also, if anyone is interested in being lead scribe for an upcoming
Royal progress event (coordinating receiving scrolls, adding dates and
occasionally promissory names) please contact me off list.
Baroness Tegan de Moreton
Undine Pursuivant
Clerk of the Signet
