If you decide to do pre-printed, color-in the artwork promissories, please
have them printed or photocopied on something other than the parchmenty
bond paper at the printer/copy shop. Consider Bristol paper (not Bristol
board) or some other paper that more readily accepts paint. (Artists, please
weigh in here with more informed suggestions than I can make.). Also, make
the promissories in a size that can be framed in a standard* frame* or mat
size size (8X10, for instance), not a standard *paper* size (8.5X11). Yes,
you'll have to do some trimming, but the scroll recipient will appreciate
it. People do frame nice-looking promissories and put them on the
wall. Reserve the "custom" sizes requiring custom framing for original
scrolls.
