Good afternoon ~

After reviewing some of the comments in this thread, I am reminded that at one
time printed materials were to be "approved" materials.  Baron William Welwyn
(previously of Nottinghill Coill) was heavily involved with the "media" side a
few years ago.  This may have changed since 2005.

Nevertheless, if anyone knows where we can get "canned" materials to use, it
should be noted and used according to SCA guidelines.

I only mention this as a reminder and to protect our fair Society, not to stifle
any enthusiasm nor add more to anyone's plate.

Graciously,
Alexandra

Lord Cian,

We often have a Newcomer's Point at our events (in Windmasters' Hill).  I did
one at Ymir, we had one at Tourney of Friends, and I just did one at MATO.  We
have belts that we give with loaner garb that signify them as newcomers.  At one

point, the Kingdom Chatelaine had done some really nice pewter cast "N"s that we

gave out as newcomer tokens.  I also do a Newcomer's Manual that I give out,
have a hospitality table, and also do a Newcomer's Information Class when I have

Newcomers' Point.  I do a scavenger hunt and give away a feast basket for two
and/or garb at most events as well.

Oh, and I had cards made up with my SCA information on it that I hand out to
people I see when I run to the grocery store, etc.,  in garb and always get the
questions!  It's a great way to get the word out about us!
