I think it is much more simple than that.. though everything everyone has
brought up is very true.
I think we just need to be Open, excepting and friendly.
We need to remember what we learned in grade school.
Always say Hello, acknowledge someone who is hanging around and except them
into the conversation.
Say please and thank you.
If there is someone whom you do not know introduce your self.
Make all of those around you feel comfortable and excepted and welcome
The SCA is a historical group but before we really got historical we were
first a party. We are a social historical outlet for many people. it is the
fact that we are social that hooks and keeps many people playing this game.
Several years ago there was a chatelaine survey that I got the pleasure of
reading and compiling all of the responses for Kisaiya when she was kingdom
chatelaine. One of the questions was why did you join the SCA another
question was if you have left the SCA for a period of time why. The answer
to both of these questions for a majority of the replies included the
statement "because I had a friend who". We all need to remember this when we
deal with each other as well as when we deal with new comers.
