Most definitely. I always feel bed enough when I mangle someone's' name. But I really hate to ruin "their moment" by bungling the text because I am unfamiliar with the font. Plus its wonderful to be able to show off those gorgeous scrolls while reading them. I have a couple of my own that I have no idea who did the illumination or the calligraphy (as they are often different people).

to the back of the scroll, so that I could read off the content and give
