With respect,

This was in the VA clinic where there is no hidden adgenda, no salesmen;
all drugs are generic and bought in bulk. His sheep's skin was on the
wall. (I checked) The 60 gms was part of a very extensive diet he gave
me. It is also a small amount. A hamburger can only have the bottom
bun. That would be the whole days allowance. The ratioinal was the
timing of sugar releases, being shorter than protien but longer than
sugar. A tiny amount of fat (no more than one pat of butter) was also a
requirement for digestive track purposes. I also think small amounts of
carbs are part of a more balanced diet. Dr. Atkins diet of yesteryear
that forbade all carbs has been proven over and over to have a flawed
premise and aggravate diabetic problems. A protien and rabbit food diet
is not as healthy as some would claim.

Portion control and timing of meals (6 instead of 3) is what is
essential here. Calories and exercise are also very significant. Balance
is a requirement.

This information also gives with other nutritionists I have seen in the
past dating back to at least 1990.

Any "nutritionist" that insists that ANYONE, much less a walking insulin factory, "must have" starchy carbs is a "nutritionist" that is getting a kickback from an insulin company.

That's why they call it a "practice", folks. And clearly these guys need more of it.
