she is incorrect. the titular head of a barony serves at the whim of the
crown, the heirs to the throne (royal family) do not and are not the
appointees of the crown. a landed baron/ess, by way of ceremony, "outrank"
all members of the populace while in their own lands but they do not outrank
the royalty.

As Duchess Rachel said in her post a landed Baron/ess IN THEIR OWN BARONY

to long established SCA precedent. Our authority come directly from the
Crown. I agree with her that the political reality though means that the
Baron/ess also would be somewhat of a fool to push the fact.
