[MR] Question about Sterling Silver Mug

My lady, Larissa,
If the mug has a dent in it, you may be able to remove all or most of the dent. The glass -plastic bottom may be a little difficult. The lip that holds the glass in will probably have to be opened up to remove the cracked glass and place the plastic in its place. that done, the mug can probably be replated. A plating business in or near your town might be able to do that. Since the base metal of the Silver Plated mug is likely brass, it may be more cost effective to replace it. The brass once heat molded and cooled becomes relatively brittle and the lip around the glass may crack once you try to unbend it. Someone more use to this work will probably be able to tell you better than I if this is a possibility. Mine is from working with trumpets and flutes years ago.
For reference, Silver Plated items are not considered as Sterling. Sterling is solid silver of an almost pure to pure content.
To you,
Ld. Edward deWitt

Hello everyone!
I have a question for anyone who knows anything about mugs. A friend of mine
recently found a sterling silver plated mug with a glass bottom. He dropped
it on a carpet floor, which dented the mug and caused the glass to crack.
It's now begun to flake off and is entirely unusable. Does anyone know the
best way to repair it? If possible, he'd like to replace the bottom with
plastic. If anyone can help, that would be great.
Sincerely,
Larissa Mikhailovna
