Greetings,

It appears that the internet may have eaten our thank you note Regarding
Highland River Melees sent Sunday the 6th. So here it is again. I have
also added a few names we have collected since then.

Greetings,

I’m still tired and utterly brain-dead, but I had to at least acknowledge
the large number of people who braved our new site to come and enjoy
Highland River Melees with us this year. I am open (by private mail,
please) to any suggestions you may have – the report’s not written yet!

I’m certain I’ll miss someone out, but here’s a partial list of people
Elvira and I are deeply grateful to for enormous help:

Beginning, of course, with our Baron and Baroness. Because without them,
there just cannot be the pageantry that comes with a good event.

Kitchen Crew:

Helena of Roxbury Mills (who needs to write a Campaign Cookbook! Yum!)

Katherine O’Carrol (that’s misspelled. Sorry!)

Catalina Galiano

Malcolm

Ed the Tinker

Alicia

Brandon

Three perfect meals in one day, folks! Oh, wait, four, because they
prepared and served the Baron & Baroness’ Luncheon, too. And the crew of
servers who made feast service quick and easy, including four children
serving for the first time. One of those kids was our Kingdom Baker, and I’m
sorry I fail here to list all their names.

Minister of the List Fergus of Hanna and at least two helpers, Chirurgeon
in Charge Eric (Dexter) and his staff, Marshalls Sir Tash, Donal, Od
Skallagrimsonar, and their staffs (And congratulations, Jonathas – but you
were missed all the same), Her New Excellency Thyra our Herald Coordinator;
Glynis Gwyned, our Royal Liaison and then some; Mastre Eadric, who made our
site tokens; Mistress Madeline Bynorthway, A&S Classes; Eleanor of Highland
Foorde, Bardic Competition; Elizabet, Merchant Coordinator, and then she
pinch-hit for the Scribe as well; Jacyntha of Highland Foord who put on a
most excellent children’s program, and helped with kitchen and serving and
entouraging, and…; Ilse (Cordellia), who ably refreshed our fighters. The
group who made (yes, made!) prizes, Baronial Gifts, and other “pre-work”
whether they made it to the event or not. Scribal Guild who outdid
themselves.

House Hedgehog. Without this group, we wouldn’t have had enough tentage, nor
would things that needed to get done have gotten done because they leapt to
their feet collectively every time they were asked to for help. The House
was a terrific Honor Guard as well. I, personally, owe these folks…

And Five people whose efforts would fill a book, so I’ll just make a very
short list:

Uroko Sueko, self-appointed “Autocrat Minder” for Gerita, A&S Challenge
coordinator, truck packer and unpacker, tent-setter-up and tearer-down. And
on…

Swannoc Beag, self-appointed backup “Autocrat Minder”, tireless worker,
truck-loader and unloader, Bard, Head Table server, the kind of person who
seems to be everywhere at once, doing things that need doing but no one has
quite noticed yet.

Paul of Barnsley, who claims (repeatedly) that he did nothing. Except that
he seems to know what needs doing and have it done before anyone else (other
than Swannoc, I swear) sees the problem. He brought tons of firewood in, and
kept a Bardic Fire going in. the. Rain!

David ben Leon, Head Troll, truck ferry, chief of moral support. I’ll stop
there.

Od Skalligrimsonar, already listed above, but this guy has mastered time and
space travel because he marshaled, Chirurgeoned, served feast, set up, tore
down, kept Elvira sane when no one else could, hauled trailers-full of hay,
and on and on and on.

There could have been no Highland River Melees without at least this list of
people. Our hearts are full…

In addition, we would like to thank: Morgant & Gheile for opening troll on
Friday, running it into the night and coming back for more on Saturday.
Catalina and Thyra also helped David cover the troll tables. We would also
like to thank the following list for their help: Avice, Bjorn, Geoffrey,
Jarret, Johanes, Kat, Kevin, Livia, Llewellyn, Nicole, Pam,Tamlin, and Ul.

A special thank you to Sueko, Margaret, Glynis, Catalina, Ulf, and the
people that ferried our marketing materials to other events. You all helped
make easier work of getting event information out to the populace.

Deepest thank to all the people that made Highland River Melees possible,
especially the wonderful attendees.
