Nope. "Thrown Weapons" is not a combat authorization. His Grace was correct, in Atlantia _any_ combat auth allows a combatant to use thrown weapons (in melees that have missile weapons).

The only shaft materials allowed for javelins within SCA Combat at this time is Polyethylene pipe (Siloflex or equivalent manufactured to ASTM D2239 or ASTM D2737 Standards) or rattan. And if you can figure out how to make a 5ft rattan javelin that weighs under 2lbs, please let the world know. Great for darts, though.
Golf-tube arrows are out too... have been for a few years now.
