[MR] funny how people get about what they find ok

Agreed.
I was a boy scout as a kid. I don't remember any conversations about
religion nor homosexuality. I carved stuff out of wood, made the little
pinewood derby race cars, won trophies, learned to socialize, and got
patches. My parents and sister are all 3 of different faiths, and I haven't
been to church in a good 15-20 years. I wasn't kicked out, nor do I recall
any harsh words ever spoken to me, beyond "That knife isn't a toy"... early
90s would have been my timeframe, and I've had no interaction since that
time.
I think depriving children of an SCA demo because of personal issues with a
statement by a nationwide (worldwide?) organization is quite unfair. We're
talking about kids, not some elite group of terrorists or criminal
masterminds. They're kids, and they want to learn. Does it matter what group
they're with? Do we not want to teach those who wish to learn? Are we so
petty that we would we rather perhaps kill the interest of future members?
If someone in the SCA doesn't like the boy scouts for whatever reason
... it's your right, and simply don't attend. Nobody has a gun to your head.
But please find a better place to voice the displeasure than an SCA list, as
the argument is clearly against the boy scouts and the SCA demo involvement
is completely irrelevant.
I re-joined this mailing list about a week ago after many years of hiatus
because I wanted to read SCA-related material ... not political arguments. This
is simply reminding me of why the SCA politics and nazi-isms became
overbearing and I quit years ago before even paying dues.
I have zero interest in hearing about the latest "crusade", unless said
crusade involves weapons and armor ... and is before the 18th century.
If this is how the list is, perhaps I should walk away again, permanently.
