I don't actually have a dog in this fight. My children are well over 18, and
my grandchildren under 6.
That said, I have received youth training as both a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and
a Girl Scout Leader. Generally, the two-adult rule is enforced. There are
exceptions. For example, if one takes a youth aside but remains in full public
view, though not in earshot of the public, this is normally considered
acceptable.
So, (1) never close the door (tent flaps) of your classroom. That is a good
general rule for giving youth classes.
And, (2) no touching, however "innocent."
By defining "guardian" to include any "adult in charge", the policy appears to
approach SCA norms: the person in charge of the child should have the medical
permission form, or a form designating the charge (there are such SCA forms,
but I'm not sure where they are found or used--my children are WELL over 18).
I know people who hired a college student to go along on family vacation as
"au pair" or "baby sitter." Again, the "interpretation" of "guardian" permits
this.
As for designating "adult themed" classes, good luck. Most of us can be
reasonable (Royal mistresses in the 16th C might be a candidate). Some people
will object to "underwear in the 14th C."
And now, in the words of Mammy Yokum, "I have spoken."
