I have seen this come up before, and IIRC, scrolls are to be considered
gifts to the recipient, not to the group. As far as gifting goes, the
exemption for tax year 2009 is $13,000 - that is, the gifter (not the
recipient) can gift $13,000 to an individual without having to pay taxes.
Any amount over $13,000, taxes must be paid.

501C3 and are therefore tax deductions. How do I track that? Do I ask for
notes from the recipient?
