Equestrians of Atlantia!
We have found ourselves with War upon us…. The warring baronies of Scared Stone and Stierbach intend to do battle at Elkin Castle : War of Wings.
A Grand Procession, Gallery of Helms, Mounted Joust and Challenge Course “Challenge of the Wings” are planned.
The site will be open Thursday beginning at 1000 am to receive you and your mount. Either a 22’ x 40’ electric tape paddocks or area to highline is available depending upon your preference.
In order to properly prepare for your arrival please contact alain_de_la at yahoo.com and ericowoody at yahoo.com in order to prepare for your equestrian needs. Be mindful of the proper paperwork needed for transporting your mounts across state lines, proof of updated coggins will be checked prior to offloading.
The Cavalry will provide one war point which will come from three separate areas: Gallery, Joust and Challenge Course.
There will be ample time to practice on the challenge course Thursday and Friday all day. The Arena will be fitted for the mounted joust on Friday evening for the horses and riders intending to compete at the Mounted Joust the following morning.
As soon as you arrive please ensure you troll in and meet with Lady Cristofana di Lorenzo Our equestrian MOL. We will have a hospitality tent for you to feel at home and to coordinate your activities.
A Cavalry Social is planned Friday Evening (pot luck) immediately after the validation of the joust.
The Grand Procession will begin the day’s activities and be run by Lady Nem Inghean Dochartaigh. The Gallery of Helms will be graded by the Queen and her advisors upon completion of the procession.
The Mounted Joust will commence immediately after the Procession. An authorization of Bannerette (or it’s equivalent) with an inspection of proper equipment is required. The entrance requirement will be an inspection of equipment Friday evening and successfully performing three passes on the tilt (without lances) keeping your horse on the rail without veering off. The List will be finalized Friday evening.
After the Mounted Joust is complete on Saturday,… a short break will be needed as the list field will be refit to host the Challenge of the Wings. Authorization of Lancer is required to compete in this activity. Depending upon the number of participants and time, you may be allowed to perform up to two passes for best time and points.
MEAL PLAN.
The Hospitality Pavilion will be open for your dining and social convenience the entire event. There will be no “formal” meal plan however feel free to use the tables and benches under the pavilion for meals.
Friday evening is a pot luck, share your favorite food….or drink.
After Royal Court Saturday, the Lance of Saint Anthony will offer “The Feast of Saint Anthony”. Lady Roanna will be coordinating the feast of fowl and beast (chicken/beef). Donations would be gladly accepted. Please contact Lady Roanna at ladyroanna1 at yahoo.com in order to clarify any issues and a seat at the table… We will do our best to accommodate EVERYONE… this is your cavalry and we all share in it’s beauty.
A set of custom reigns will be awarded as a prize for the winner of the Gallery of Helms.
A War of the Wings V lance will be awarded as a prize for the winner of the Mounted Joust.
A belted tourney sword and scabbard will be awarded as a prize to the winner of the Challenge of the Wings.
Please let us know of your intent to ride and when you would be arriving on site.
There are no horses to “rent” for this event however cross talk and direct coordination with the owner are the recommended course of action to borrow or use a mount.
If you wish to Volunteer, we could use help refitting lances, removing lance debris, horse apples, handing off lances, sword, water etc. Please let us know. In order for you to be allowed to work near or around horses we need to get you authorized as ground crew. A liability class will be given Friday evening about 8 pm. We'd love to have your support!
