On the way back last night we got off on the Town Hill Exit (I think it is SR 168 or something like that) it was VERY winding, but we made excellent time and bypassed the eight mile delay. I shouldn't suggest that route late at night or pulling a trailer though. When we came through on the way up at about 10ish we had no delay at all. 

There is also construction on the turnpike bear Pittsburgh as Alaric mentioned. (like that should shock anyone!)

Now if only someone could tell me why I sat in stop and go traffic for 2.5 hours from Hanover to Fredericksburg on the way up...grumble grumble 95...
