Greetings!

Only 2 days left for preregistration for Crown Tourney! If you've already preregistered, or are about to, please don't forget to send your ACCEPS confirmation email to our Reservationist, Lady Megan of Tear-Sea's Shore (ladyerya at gmail.com). Please remember to include your membership number and expiration dates for you and everyone you're registering to speed up check-in.

Why would I want to come to Crown Tourney, you ask? I'm not fighting in it, you say. The reasons are limitless!

Following the Tourney to determine the next Heirs to the coveted Throne of Atlantia, there will be a Tournament of Chivalry fought on the same field. Our List Steward says ya'll know what this means... Fighting for unbelts, aplenty! This is your opportunity to test your skills against Atlantia's Knights.

If you are in need of field space for a dayshade, or if you are a merchant interested in merchanting at the event, please contact Asta Knarrarbringa (KBG0799 at aol.com) with the dimensions of your pavilion including ropes.

But... I don't fight. No problem!

There will be merchants, A&S competitions, Heraldic Consult available, and a Bardic Competition which will need competitors and audience! There's also the Atlantian Roll of Arms Competition as well. (details attached)

Don't forget there is a scrumptious feast being prepared by Baroness Tegan de Moreton!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

ATLANTIAN ROLL OF ARMS COMPETITION

Each Crown Tournament sees The Atlantian Roll of Arms Competition as sponsored by the Triton Herald's Office and this May is no exception! What is a Roll of Arms, you ask? Well, the online Encyclopedia Brittannica defines a Roll of Arms as "(an) illuminated manuscript describing (blazoning) and often illustrating (emblazoning) the arms of persons present at a particular battle or tournament."

The rules for the competition are simple. Using the registered heraldry for the combatants, prepare a manuscript depicting the entrants to Their Majesties' Crown Tournament, with the final pairing and the eventual Winner denoted. For example, your page might contain 14 small escutcheons (shield shapes) of all the entrants by rank, then 2 larger escutcheons of the finalists, with one even larger escutcheon of the winner, listing the names under each depiction. Illuminated poems or songs depicting the tourney progression are also legitimate entries!

For visual examples, please see the following links of historic Rolls of Arms as well as past winners of the Atlantian Roll of Arms Competition:

A final list of entrants can be obtained on the day of Crown Tourney, and will also be posted to the Merry Rose immediately following the event so you don't have to attend Crown to participate in the competition. Those interested in entering the competition will have until June 1st to send Triton their entries. Entries should be prepared on appropriate 11"x14" scribal mediums (suitable for inclusion in the official Atlantian Roll of Arms book).

The winner receives a special prize from Triton and their entry is permanently placed in the official Roll of Arms Book of Atlantia. Second place entry is given to the victors of Crown Tourney, Their Royal Highnesses.

All entries are to be mailed for arrival NLT June 1st. Please, send your entry to:
Scot Myers
3320-E Eastover Ridge Drive
Charlotte, NC 28211-1488

We have had some amazing entries in the past and I'm certain this Spring's Crown will be no exception!
