[MR] Period Paint with Eggs?

simple google search of "tempora or tempera" paint should get results. though egg is a "beast" to get out of garb... can buy the premixed just add water type, or simply substitute water colors, as both would be substantially less expensive.  same way don't want to mix blue oils by period process, sometimes period isn't better. oh, and tempora has an odor...  half remembered: you can use laundry starch as your binder instead of egg. its cheaper in large quantity, no smell, will wash out, and perform identically. some say if its all edible it can't be bad, but may suggest inert ingredients instead of bio available.  it doesn't "encourage" consumption, and will not harm. inert being food coloring, starch, water... etc. wont harm, and depending on how much or little water, it can be paint, or silly putty, etc. its all covered on kids art things.
