I humbly suggest that "Alternative Medicine" vs. "Western Medicine" be treated in the same vein as politics and religion.  I see a lot of people making statements and claims which most of us are not in the position to confirm or refute properly.

As an aside, beware of what you find on the internet.  The "fairly reliable site" of www.consumerhealth.org mentioned also has these documents:
