[MR] Book of interest to Scadians

Noble friends,

Just cataloged for the UVA Fine Arts Library: FRESCOES OF THE VENETO, 
VENETIAN PALACES AND VILLAS, by Filippo Pedrocco, Massimo Favilla and 
Ruggero Rugolo (ISBN 9780865651999; our call # FINE ARTS ND2756 .V43 
P4313 2009). This is a huge volume, mostly of color plates showing 
elaborate wall paintings from Venice. The work covers three sections, 
and for our purposes the section on the Sixteenth Century is of greatest 
interest. There are lots of images here of folks running around in togas 
(well sort of, most of the robes are falling off), but there are also 
many views of gentles in flattering 15th century clothing. The colors 
and details are magnificent. This book would be especially of interest 
to Italian Renaissance costumers, but it is eye candy for everyone else.
