I have received alot of emails about this and I appreciate the information that has set me straight about how they do things in other kingdoms. Thanks for all of the wonderful information.

I think you or your friend are thinking of the "White Scarf Treaty" where a number of the kingdoms have agreed to recognize the excellence of their best rapier fighters in a way that lets the recognized rapier fighters wear a white scarf. A number of kingdoms, including Atlantia, have signed it. Here we call these people Provosts. In other kingdoms they have other titles. Ansteorra likes the term Don and they choose students who are often referred to as cadets. In Atlantia the award comes with a Grant of Arms, in other kingdoms it is only recognized with an AoA. It depends on the kingdom. In none of them does it come with an award equivalent to a Knight, Laurel or Pellican. The high respect these folks have garnered here in Atlantia, means we may treat them similarly to how we treat peers but that is because of their own excellent behavior and attitude, both on and off the field, and not because of the title they've been awarded.
